We are delighted to welcome Lisa Hughes on board as a non-executive director. Unfortunately the wonderful Jan Grew had to retire for personal reasons. Lisa is part of a great team, dedicated to our charitable objects:
Tracy Lee chief executive officer
Ross Lee governing director
Lisa Hughes director
Lisa was of course previously conflicted out of the role, so now having completed her estate duties, we are happy to have her, finally, as part of the governance strategy team. This charity will continue to move onward and upward.
Lisa’s bio reads as follows:
“I am the principal solicitor of Virago Law. I have a diverse and unique legal background spanning over 20 years, and over three jurisdictions.
I studied law in South Africa, requalified in New Zealand, and practiced on both sides of the ditch-in New Zealand, and Australia.
My legal background is in criminal prosecutions. I worked with the Crown Solicitor’s office as a prosecutor in New Zealand and as a lawyer with the Public Defence Service. I was employed as the Court Coordinator for the pilot of the rehabilitative Drug and Alcohol Court in Auckland in New Zealand, a role which provided me with invaluable insight into addiction and repeat offending.
I was employed as a Legal Officer and Crown Prosecutor with the Director of Public Prosecutions in Australia.
Over the past 5 years I have extended my practice into the areas of Wills and Estates.
I believe authenticity, integrity and honesty are the key to good client relationships and these attributes are the cornerstone of my practice. I believe that as lawyers we have the platform to make a difference and we should be using it to do so.
Outside of work I am a wife, mother of two boys and a whippet. I have a love of trail running, mountain biking, cycling, red wine and chocolate- not necessarily in that order.”
